We are so excited to share that BABY Wilson is on the way! Sharing all the details on how we found out, how we told our parents, and everything else through the first trimester.
It’s hard to believe that I’m officially 14 weeks pregnant and into my second trimester. Justin and I found out at exactly 4 weeks, which was two days after our wedding anniversary. The timing was perfect! I thank God every day for blessing us with this sweet baby, and I know that it can be a trying time for many.
When we found out the news we were ecstatic! Excitement was quickly followed by worry…what should I not eat, can I workout, are we going to be good parents? So many things filled our minds. Of course you google everything under the sun, and get tons of crazy answers, so that wasn’t helping us either. I started using the Ovia Pregnancy app. It is great! You can look up foods, medicine, track the size of the baby, enter anything you are feeling, etc. I highly recommend it!
It started to become a little more real at our first OBGYN appointment, which was at almost 7 weeks, and the day before we left for our London/Paris trip. That’s everyone’s first question when we tell them that we’re expecting…”so did you know you were pregnant on your trip?” I did, and in fact we planned the trip knowing & hoping that we would be pregnant. Yes, I missed the champagne (had everyone fooled with my Instagram posts & stories ;)), but it really didn’t even phase me. It was pretty easy to eat around both cities, and just alter a few things I couldn’t have.
We spent a lot of time on our trip thinking about how we wanted to tell our parents. We knew that they were coming Easter weekend, which we thought would be the perfect time to tell them in person. The downside was that we had to wait until 14 weeks.
I knew that I wanted to do something special, and do something that incorporated Reynolds. I have always been a HUGE fan of Shelby Steckbauer of Shelby Rae Photographs. I first started following her on Instagram because of her precious Goldendoodle, Lola! I knew that she was exactly who I wanted to capture these special photos for us. She is AMAZING to work with, and I’m so excited to get to spend more time with her with maternity photos and so much more! I decided that it would be a cute idea to get a photo of the three of us with balloons that spelled out B-A-B-Y, and to frame the photo for each parent to open Easter weekend.
Their reaction was priceless (lots of crying & screaming with excitement) & I’m so happy that they FINALLY know the big news! Next step will be finding out the gender, which we’ll be doing with a little reveal at the end of April. Stay tuned!
First Trimester:
To be honest, my first trimester has been pretty smooth. I feel so blessed! I haven’t had any morning sickness or nausea, which has been nice. I think being able to workout a lot has really helped me. I have to, of course, monitor my heart rate, so I’ve made some adjustments to my normal workout routines, but I really do think it has helped me. I haven’t had any weird cravings, I just want ice cream all the time! Justin has been a trooper and is supporting me by eating ice cream every night too. Thank goodness for HALO Top ice cream for allowing me to indulge in this sweet treat without feeling super guilty. On average we have 3-4 different kinds of HALO in our freezer at a time. What can I say, I like variety.
The first trimester can be a stressful time for most. With the worry of making it to 12 weeks, to the new idea of being a mom. It’s a lot. Another reason why I think working out has been such a blessing for me. It has allowed me to continue to take care of myself (and the baby), and release some of that stress.
The first trimester is also kind of an interesting one, in the sense that your body is going through so many changes at one time. You can begin to develop acne or lower back pain, things that maybe you’ve never had before. For me I constantly felt bloated. As if I ate a big burrito for lunch – that’s how I felt I looked ALL the time. I’m excited for the baby bump to officially pop & to look pregnant!
All in all, I am just so thankful to be carrying this sweet baby. Justin has been nothing but super supportive and helpful (even with my random hormonal mood swings). And sweet Reynolds, I think he knows there is a baby in my tummy because he always puts his head on my stomach at night. I know that he is going to be a great puppy-brother. He’ll always be our first born & so special to us.
I’m so excited for this next chapter, and to do more posts on pregnancy, healthy exercising, recipes, what we’re buying for our nursery, etc. Stay tuned!
