We traveled to Bermuda to celebrate our Babymoon, and I’m sharing all of our favorite details & recommendations!

I don’t know why we didn’t have this beautiful island on our radar before. When we started brainstorming places for our babymoon we were all over the map. I knew that I wanted to go somewhere tropical and be able to relax on the beach all day with a mocktail. Finding that type of location in the summer, that is Zika free, was challenging. We were limited on the options, and Justin really wanted to go to Hawaii. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to visit Hawaii, but being on a plane for 8+ hours at 6 months pregnant was not my idea of relaxation!
We quickly stumbled across Bermuda and soon realized that it was the perfect location! Bermuda is located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, almost a direct shot east of Charleston, SC. It’s Zika free and only a 2 1/2 hour flight from Atlanta. Perfect! It took no time at all to decide on this destination, and Justin got to work on planning.
He did a lot of research on hotels, as there are so many great options on the island. We ultimately decided to stay at the Hamilton Princess, a Fairmont hotel, because of the location. They are a bit closer into Hamilton, the main area for shopping, restaurants, etc. Plus, we loved the view of the water & the marina.
The hotel was perfect! It came complete with a large gym, which offered Barre and other fitness related classes and an Exhale Spa, which I visited for my first prenatal massage & facial. I highly recommend both treatments! They also have their own private beach club, and several restaurants on property.
The first night we dined at the hotel’s casual restaurant on property, 1609 Bar & Restaurant. It was great – a casual atmosphere overlooking the water. We had a beautiful sunset & rainbow that night and enjoyed some great local cuisine.
On Saturday we spent the day exploring the town of Hamilton and ended the day at the spa. It was a little overcast, so that was the perfect day to be inside. That night we had dinner at Ascots, my favorite meal of the entire trip. It is walking distance from the Hamilton Princess, and located in a smaller hotel. They had non-alcoholic champagne for us preggos, big bonus in my book! The menu was well rounded and included wonderful seafood, steak and lamb dishes. I had the grilled Branzino, which was amazing, while Justin had the Rock Fish.
Sunday we headed to the Hamilton Princess Beach Club (their private beach). The hotel provides a free shuttle to and from the beach, which runs every 30 minutes, and was about a 15 minute bus ride. We ended up renting a cabana, which came with two chairs right in front of the water as well. They don’t really advertise that you can do that, but it’s certainly worth it for a big group, and to have reserved chairs on a crowded day. The food, drinks and service were all great. We did the same thing on Monday as well – I couldn’t get enough relaxation with the beautiful views!
Sunday evening we took a private sunset sail with Sail Bermuda. They offer private & semi-private tours during the day and evening. It was such a relaxing evening, and a great way to see other parts of the island. They serve alcohol on the boat & the crew was great. One of my favorite experiences of the entire trip, and lots of great photos. They even picked us up at our hotel marina, which was really nice as well.
Our last night we dined at Marcus’ at the Hamilton Princess. The restaurant offered wonderful sunset views, and a great menu with a bit of a southern twist to it. A great way to end the trip!
One of my favorite things about this island are the locals. They were amazing! So welcoming to tourists, and so enthusiastic to talk to anyone and everyone. I really loved that! If Bermuda is not on your radar, I highly recommend checking it out. It’s a great spot for a long weekend, or an extended stay.
