We recently traveled to Mexico, and stayed at the Grand Velas Riviera Maya. It is just outside of Cancun. I cannot begin to tell you how amazing it was, and I am so excited to share details on our experience!

This was Justin and I’s first experience with an all inclusive resort, and it did not disappoint. From the food, to the service and the views. We LOVED this resort, and hope to go back soon. From the moment we checked in, and were greeted with champagne (already a win in my book), I knew we were going to enjoy it. They were so accommodating with a baby as well. They provided us with a high chair, infant tub to bathe Remy in, a play mat and so much more. They also offer childcare, which we did use to go to the Spa and dinner two of the five nights we were there.
Our room view was one of my favorite parts of our stay. It was incredible! The ocean is gorgeous, and every morning we would wake up to gorgeous skies, and the palm trees swaying in the breeze. It was like a dream. Our room was on the second floor, and had a private terrace and plunge pool. We would enjoy coffee and breakfast each day, and truly felt so relaxed being there. One afternoon a storm started to roll in, so we went back to our room and hung out in the plunge pool. It didn’t rain, and ended up being so nice! Remy loved it as well. We got him a little float linked here, which was a BIG hit with him!

The service was amazing. Every day we had the nicest, most attentive servers down by the beach. They were always coming by to see if we needed more water, wanted the umbrella up or down, etc. We pretty much spent our days parked there. There are several pools on property as well. One is for adults only, which we of course didn’t visit, and then they had a HUGE pool for families and a pool for children if they didn’t want to go in the larger pool. It was so nice to have this private beach, where we could bring everything Remy needed for the day, and where he could take naps, etc. The servers truly made that possible for us.

One of the biggest questions I get is, “did Remy like the sand?”. He LOVED it and in fact he face planted in it, and didn’t cry at all. I continue to be so impressed with how easy going this little guy is. I think this picture speaks for itself :).

The views are endless at this resort, and the property is so well kept and perfectly manicured.

One of our favorite parts of traveling is enjoying new restaurants and cuisine. Grand Velas did not disappoint. Justin did lots of research on resorts before booking our stay, and Grand Velas had so many great reviews. They have 8 restaurants on property. Everything from traditional Mexican, to a five diamond French tasting menu. Right up my husband’s alley :). Two of the restaurants do not allow children after a certain time, so we did arrange for a sitter through the on property service. I was a little hesitant at first, but all of the sitters are staff on property, CPR certified, etc. We had a great experience with ours.
Because we had the sitter, we were able to enjoy the adult only bar before dinner, and take in the incredible views knowing Remy was in great hands.

My favorite of all of the restaurants was the Mexican one! It’s a four diamond restaurant. I loved the ambiance of it, and the food was amazing too. And, well, when in Mexico, it was appropriate to wear my favorite fiesta dress, right?!

The weather was perfect this time of year. It was not hot, and in the evenings there was a wonderful breeze. We enjoyed walking Remy around before our dinners, which also put him to sleep through most of the meal. A little mama trick ;)!

Of everything that we saw and experienced at the resort, the spa had to be the most incredible. It was named one of Forbes’ 30 Most Luxurious Spas in the World, and I can see why. You can do an exotic Spa Water journey to enhance any treatment with the magic of hydrotherapy. You go from sauna, to steam room, to plunge pool, to so much more. They recommend a full hour of this before any treatment, and it was truly unlike anything I’ve ever seen at a spa!
If you are thinking about doing a beach vacation. Whether it’s with your family, or a getaway for you and your spouse. This resort caters to it all! I would recommend it to anyone, and am happy to answer any questions. I’m already trying to plan our trip back!

Special thanks to Tuckernuck for collaborating with me for this trip!
Thank you so much for sharing this review Lauren. It was so helpful and we are so excited to take our family vacation there this summer. We were able to show the rest of the family what we have to look forward to at the Grand Velas thanks to you.
